A Family-owned Business Since 1966
The Streatch family immigrated from Ireland in the 1830s and began farming in Nova Scotia’s Musquodoboit Valley. We’ve proudly worked the same land ever since. Starting as traditional family farmers, we soon evolved toward commercial agriculture, and eventually became a major grower of sod in the region and across the Maritimes.
In 1947, the family’s fifth generation in Canada, James Streatch acquired the farm and developed it into a modern-day business. Over the generations, family members have served as prominent farming advocates and provincial government members. James's son, Ken, joined the business in 1962. In 1966 it was incorporated. The company began selling sod in 1977, growing steadily through the decades since. Ken’s son, Andy Streatch, has owned all the farm’s businesses since 2025.
Eight generations on, we’re still growing. Our family. The group of people who work with us. And, the number of customers we work for.
Who we are today
We now supply premium sod to landscapers, developers, and homeowners throughout the Maritimes, from three sod farms located within close reach of customers across the region. All our sod is grown in the Maritimes, for our climate and conditions here.
You may know us by another name. For decades, our sod has been sold under several names — including Granview Farms, Musquodoboit Valley Quality Sod, and New Brunswick Quality Turf. In 2026, we brought them together under one regional banner. Same fields. Same growers. Same high standards.
